In a bid to discuss about opportunities for exporting more Vietnamese product to Japan, representatives of 10 Japanese handicraft firms met with local exporters and producers on Monday.

Members consisted of businessmen and experts on handicraft design who participated in Craft Vietnam Exhibition 2007 and attended the handicraft promotion seminar in Hanoi.

The delegation was organized by Vietnam's Trade Representative Office in Japan and mainly investigated on products like dried flowers, furniture, embroidery, bamboo and rattan crafts, ceramics and pottery.

Japan caters a huge market for such handicraft products and this can be cited from the fact that Japan imports nearly US $2 billion worth of handicrafts a year from various countries including Vietnam and China.

Vietnam in particular exports about $54 million worth of products to Japan each year which accounts for three percent of the country's total handicraft imports.
