North East Handicraft and Handloom Development Council (NEHDC) organized a two-day workshop on business skills for artisans, and handicraft and handloom industry entrepreneurs.
Handloom and handicraft products of the state of Manipur witness huge demand outside the state. Development and promotion of these industries in global market will prove to be helpful for the economic development of the state, stated Mr. T Panmai, Director of Industries, while speaking at the inauguration of workshop.
He opined that the collective work of industry entrepreneurs and artisans could help achieving economic sustainability of the state.
Citing North-East region of the country as the store house of handloom and handicraft items, Mr. JC Pandey, Director MSME who was present during the event stated that contemporary methods and technologies should be utilized to improve the productivity as well as to enhance the aesthetic value of state's handloom and handicraft goods.
