Indian textiles minister Smriti Irani yesterday launched the mobile app and backend website for Handloom Mark Scheme (HLM) on the occasion of national handloom Day. She also inaugurated the ‘My Handloom’ portal for individual weavers and organisations for applying for various benefits under government schemes, handloom marketing assistance and awards.

The Textiles Committee Mumbai has developed the mobile app with a backend web portal to completely digitise the process of registration. The app in English and 10 other languages will enable weavers to apply for Handloom Mark registration through the comfort of their homes.
The app helps ascertain the genuineness and originality of the product through unique and dynamic QR code labels affixed on each handloom product, according to an official release.
A two-week social media campaign was also launched for the handloom weaving community. Further, to promote handloom, a hashtag #Vocal4Handmade has been started.
