The Maharashtra State Handlooms Corporation (MSHC) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Amazon India under which the latter will launch on its marketplace handloom products of Indrayani Handlooms, a state government undertaking that will launch over 700 products on the platform. Amazon India said the MoU will help over 600 weavers from 17 villages.

MSHC chairman Prakash Nakul Patil said the partnership will help expand the corporation’s reach and offer employment, according to a report in a top business daily.

In the last three years, through its Kala-Haat initiative, Amazon India has boarded more over 2,400 weavers, cooperatives and artisans and to sell online, the company said.

Nagpur-based MSHC was established in 1971 to supply improved equipment and accessories, raw materials to the handloom industry and buying finished products from them. (DS)
