In order to curb the sale of fake Kashmiri handloom items, the Jammu and Kashmir State government is planning to register all those involved in trading of genuine handloom and textile products.

The registration drive to be carried out by the Jammu and Kashmir State Handloom Development Corporation Ltd (JKSHDC) will include manufacturers, individual unit holders as well as handloom cooperative societies, wholesale dealers and retail traders who deal in genuine handloom items.

Under the drive, individuals who own handloom units can register with the JKSHDC by depositing a refundable fee of Rs. 10,000.
