“The Uttar Pradesh government has taken several key policy decisions to enhance and develop the handloom sector in the state”, said Mr Naseemuddin Siddiqui, PWD Minister.
He was speaking at a handloom award distribution function. He said, the state government with the cooperation of the union government had framed several schemes to improve conditions of handloom weavers.
He considered the handloom sector as the backbone of the of states economy, since, it provided employment to maximum number of people.
