In the first half this year, towel exports of all types to more than 20 markets recorded a sharp surge.
Export goods included cotton towel, fur towel, table–cloth, muffler and handkerchief among others.
Major export markets for these products are US, Korea, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan and EU.
In the January–June 2006 period, the exports turnover saw sharp rise to the US, Korea and Thailand, but slower growth rate to Japanese market.
Meanwhile, the exports figures to EU and Taiwan recorded decline in both exports value and volume terms.
But, table–cloth witnessed highest growth rate, with a year-on-year rise of 38 percent to earn $1.3 million in export earnings.
