Home textile trade of Ludhiana hosiery industry has surpassed Rs300-crore mark, which comprises exports figures. Currently Ludhiana has 10 to 15 home furnishing production facilities and more facilities will be added in future.

Ludhiana markets home furnishing items in cities like Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and exports them to US and Europe. It supplies items worth Rs150-Rs200 crores to local markets every year and exports items worth Rs100-Rs125 crores.

More small scale producers are foraying into this industry, which has high potential. For example, Neva Garments of Duke group has recently introduced bed linen and quilts under Neva Homz brand name.

Dinesh Lakra, Managing Director, Lakra Brothers, informed that hosiery manufacturers are developing interest in home furnishing because it provides higher profit compared to readymade garments.

Most manufacturers are producing home furnishing items based on synthetic and polyester for supplying to low end markets. Some are producing and supplying cotton based items to richer markets.
