Charles Parsons, one of the leading home-textile solution companies, revealed that the blankets imported from China contained high levels of carcinogenic chemical. These products had formaldehyde content almost double the maximum permissible level.

Formaldehyde, highly toxic and allergenic, has been classified as carcinogenic by US Environmental Protection Agency.

However, Managing Director, Mark Bilton, did not disclose any further information but said that the company had tested other products from the supplier and had not found any such problem.

The name of the Chinese supplier remains undisclosed. The MD also declined to reveal the number of products already sold to consumers.

Parson becomes the second enterprise after Sheridan to have made the similar claims against products sourced from China.
