Specialists in circular and warp knitting, Mattes & Ammann have developed a variety of qualities for mattress covers in partnership with German specialty fibres producer Trevira. In addition, Mattes & Ammann have recently extended their product range for the segment, to include a collection in Trevira CS to cater for the contract market.

According to the company, Trevira CS materials are easy care and kind to the skin, while Trevira fibres and yarns meet the human-ecological demands of Oeko-Tex 100 standard certification.

The new range currently includes three qualities in various grams and in fabric weights of 230-365 gms per sq. metre, with the result that the cover can be adapted to the different structure and the desired weight of the mattress.

Furthermore, Mattes & Ammann have also been able to get the complete IMO certification for the maritime sector, so that these mattresses too can be sold in the maritime market.

Mattress manufacturer Breckle in Weida, which too has mattresses for the maritime sector, will in future be using Trevira CS fabrics from the Mattes & Ammann collection for its covers.

Alongside products for maritime applications, mattresses with permanently flame retardant covers are also available for use in long haul aircrafts, to be used particularly in the first or business class sections. (AR)
