An investment of nearly ₹190 crore is anticipated in the proposed power loom cluster at Mohammadpura in Burhanpur district in Madhya Pradesh under the central micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) ministry’s Micro & Small Enterprises - Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP). The estimated cost of development of the proposed cluster is ₹12.9 crore.

Almost two-fifths of the cluster’s development is over and the project deadline is September this year, a top Indian English-language daily reported.

Burhanpur is a hub for looms with nearly 40,000 power loom units operating from homes, small rooms and in unorganised workshops in the city.

The cluster will have around 64 plots for industry players and employ close to 4,000.

Three textile clusters are proposed in Burhanpur. The other two are coming up at Nimbola and Sukhpuri.
