Cambodia’s manufacturing output hit $15 billion last year, according to the ministry of industry, science, technology and innovation (MISTI).

Manufactured products worth nearly $4 billion were supplied to the domestic market, while the rest were exported, a report by the ministry said.

Three hundred and twenty six factories were set up last year, bringing the total number of registered factories to 2,425 with a combined investment of $20 billion. This was a 10-per cent increase year on year (YoY).

MISTI minister Hem Vanndy said this indicates the industrial sector is developing sustainably, diversifying and upholding high environmental and social responsibility standards, a domestic media outlet reported.

The main exports include garments, footwear, electronic devices and solar panels.
