The average daily output of the Dutch manufacturing industry was 11.1 per cent lower year on year (YoY) in October this year, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS). Output also contracted YoY in the preceding months this year.

Most industries produced less than in the same month last year. Among the larger industries, output fell most sharply in the chemical industry.

After seasonal and working-day pattern adjustments, manufacturing output fell by 0.5 per cent between September and October.

Adjusted for seasonal and working-day effects, manufacturing output is seen to fluctuate significantly.

In the spring of 2020, output declined rapidly and a low point was reached in May 2020. After that, output picked up again, until May 2022. The trend has reversed since then.

Dutch manufacturers were less negative in November than they were in October. They were less negative about the expected output in the next three months and current stocks of finished products, CBS said in a release.
