French manufacturing output drops 1% in June after 1.2% rise in May

Manufacturing output in France dropped in June by 1 per cent after rising by 1.2 per cent in May. Over a year, manufacturing output was up by 1.5 per cent during the month.

Overall industry output fell as well by 0.9 per cent in the month after a 1.1 per cent rise in May. Output decreased in most industries over a month.

Manufacturing output in the textiles, apparel, leather and related products sector fell by 1.3 per cent month on month and increased by 7 per cent year on year in June.

Output of 2023 second quarter was higher than that of the same quarter a year ago in the manufacturing industry (1.5 per cent), as well as in the whole industry (1.1 per cent), an official release said.

Over a year, output declined sharply in some energy-intensive industries.
