The monthly evolution of the September 2023 manufacturing index has been revised downwards.
The manufacturing output of textiles, apparel, leather and related products rose by 4.3 per cent YoY between August and October this year, an INSEE release said.
Cumulative output in the August-October period this year was 0.4 per cent lower in the manufacturing sector than that of the same three months of the previous year, but was 0.4 per cent higher in the whole industry.
Energy-intensive industries are particularly exposed to rising –or persistently high– production costs, which may affect their output. Output in the August-October period remained sharply down compared to the second quarter of 2021, i.e, the last quarter before the sharp rise in energy prices.
