  • The park will be connected to major cities and highways through a new four-lane road, and is near railway stations, boosting the region's significant handicraft and textile sectors that sustain many livelihoods.

The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government anticipates an investment exceeding ₹10,000 crore in the proposed Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) mega textile park near Lucknow. This park, located in Atari village, Malihabad, spans 1,100 acres. It is one of India's seven mega textile parks aimed at providing world-class infrastructure to the industry. The goal is to consolidate all processes under one roof, reducing logistic costs.

According to an official from the UP government, plans are in place to equip this park with state-of-the-art facilities to make it globally competitive. The concept emphasises providing comprehensive facilities to support all aspects of the textile value chain including spinning, weaving, processing, dyeing-printing, and garmenting activities.

A media release from the state's Department of Handicraft and Textile Industry mentioned the development of a four-lane road linking the park to nearby highways and cities, providing direct access to Lucknow, Sitapur, and Hardoi. Additionally, there's proximity to railway connectivity at Malihabad and Lucknow stations.

Notably, eastern Uttar Pradesh boasts several traditional handicraft and textile hubs, significant business generators both nationally and internationally. These hubs support the livelihoods of lakhs of people.
