TURANSEZ is an initiative by the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) aimed at strengthening economic cooperation and connectivity among Turkic States, particularly through the International Trans-Caspian East-West Middle Corridor.
The project is aimed at forming a cotton agro-industrial complex with a full cycle of production from cotton cultivation to the production of finished textile products like yarn, fabric and clothing, a release from the Kazakh PM’s office said.
Over 50,000 hectares of land have been allocated for sowing, and ten factories are planned, including four for cotton processing near the sowing areas, two for the production of drip irrigation systems using modern water-saving technologies, as well as four other factories—one each for textile, garment, dyeing and finishing.
The project will involve a total investment is over 200 billion tenge ($399.45 million) and create over 4,000 jobs.
To meet the needs of the cluster, a plant for the production of PVC pipes has been commissioned, and construction of textile factories has begun. The investor is constructing irrigation infrastructure—a network of canals and a pumping station.
Qihai said the company plans to launch the first production of finished products in October this year.
