Deputy Labour Commissioner Mr. MB Jadeja said the strike by workers has ended at all the four textile mills and all striking workers have resumed work.

The production at Arvind Limited, Ankur Mills (a division of Arvind Ltd.), Asarwa and Ashima mills was impacted due to the strike.

The workers rejoined duty after the management of Arvind agreed to take back the sacked workers, on an appeal by the Ahmedabad Textile Labour Association (TLA).

Since all the workers have resumed work, a discussion on wage hike as well as interim relief will be held with the Ahmedabad Textile Mills Association (ATMA), TLA General Secretary Amar Barot said.

On June 4, around 200 workers at Arvind’s Naroda plant, which produces an estimated 84 million metres of denim annually, went on strike. Subsequently, a group of workers from three other textile mills – Ashima, Ankur and Asarwa – also joined the agitation.
