The Board of Directors of Pakistan Textile City Limited has appointed Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Chairman of the Baig Group of Companies, as the Chairman.

Dr. Baig is on the Board of Pakistan Textile City since September 2008.

The Pakistan Textile City project is a public-private initiative aimed at developing and operating modern value-added textile industrial zones across Pakistan.

The project is coming up on 1,250 acres of land at Port Qasim near Karachi with an investment of Pk Rs. 2.2 billion.

The mega project aims to attract an investment of around US$ 250 million in the country’s value-added textile sector, and is expected to support the balance of payment situation as it would lead to exports of more than US$ 3 billion.
