Textile workers in Puducherry have asked Chief Minister N Rangasamy to secure a Central Government package to strengthen three local textile mills operating under the Government of Puducherry.

The Puducherry-based Textile Labour Union said the three textile mills – Swadeshi Cotton Mills, Sri Bharathi Mills and Anglo French Textile Mill, provides livelihood to several workers, and are also a source of revenue for the government.

In a press release, the Union President D Ravi suggested that the CM should move a resolution at the forthcoming Budget session to push the Centre to sanction a grant of five billion rupees for upgradation of the three textile mills.
