SEL Textiles Limited’s project for setting up terry towel manufacturing unit in Nawanshahr district has been approved by the government of the Indian state of Punjab.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Empowered Committee on mega projects chaired by the state Chief Minister Mr. Prakash Singh Badal.

The mega project involving a cost of Rs. 2.76 billion would come up over an area of 125 acres in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.

On completion, the project would generate 1100 direct employment opportunities and would indirectly employ another 5500 persons.

The Empowered Committee also decided on bringing early resolution to pending issues related to ten mega projects that were already approved by the committee. These include Ludhiana Integrated Textile Park Ltd., and projects of Nahar Spinning Mills and Wazir Singh Yarns to be set up in Malerkotla and Amritsar, respectively.
