Indian High Commissioner to Zambia Ashok Kumar has urged Zambians to take advantage of India’s expertise in textile sector to develop the Zambian textile industry, Times of Zambia reported.

Sharing his views during a courtesy meet with Southern Province Minister Josephine Limata, Mr. Kumar said India is willing to extend its knowledge and expertise to help Zambia revamp its textile industry, which would in turn help in the country’s socio-economic development.

India is ready to support Zambia with implementation of the projects focusing on improving income of people, particularly as the nation is gearing up to co-host the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) General Assembly in August 2013.

The Indian ambassador said Zambia should use the event to promote its textile sector, besides other things.

On her part, Minister Limata said the Zambian Government would continue to have friendly ties with India.
