Spanish textile industry output rises 8.1% in Jan'13

The production of Spanish textile industry increased by 8.1 percent on the Industrial Production Index (IPI) for the month of January 2013.
 
The rise in textile sector output is in contrast to the 3.6 percent fall in the IPI for the month, according to the data released by the Instituto Nacional de Estadistica (INE or National Statistics Institute).
 
Spain’s textile industry production had declined by 4.2 percent year-on-year in 2012.
 
The production of garment sector, however, decreased by 10.8 percent year-on-year in January. This figure is better than the December 2012 data when the sector’s output fell by 13.5 percent year-on-year.
