Normalcy has returned in the Chinese textile industry this year, according to data gathered by the China Textile Industry Association.

In 2013, international markets for Chinese textiles and apparels are witnessing slow growth. The price difference between domestic and imported cotton is still large. Prices of factors of production are rising. Thus, overall, external pressures have not significantly reduced.

But, the positive results have been achieved by the Chinese textile and garment industry by speeding up structural reforms, as well as upgradation of production techniques. This has ensured a smooth start for the industry in the first quarter of 2013.

As a result, currently, Chinese textile and clothing enterprises are operating normally. According to the information collected by the China Textile Industry Association, the textile industry began functioning normally after the Spring Festival of 2013, with operating rates of up to 90 percent.

The present overall order situation is also better than the same period last year. In fact, large-scale enterprises have ample new orders. Even medium-sized enterprises have started taking back workers. Thus, overall employment situation in the Chinese textile industry is also stable.
