A new factory to manufacture woolen blankets and clothing items is set to be constructed in Chimoio, the capital of Manica province and the fifth-largest city in Mozambique, local media reported citing Agência de Informação de Moçambique (AIM).

Once operational by the middle of 2015, the new factory would employ about 300 workers, according to Acacio Foia, director for industry and trade of Manica province.

The owners of the new factory would provide financial incentives and lambs to accelerate the development of sheep husbandry and wool production. In the meanwhile, the factory will import its wool requirements.

The new facility would have a capacity to manufacture 8,000 woolen blankets per month. The factory will also produce shirts, trousers and other clothing items, the report said.
