The textile industry in China is currently passing through a very important stage of its development, which can be described as a remodeling stage to gain competitive advantage by rapidly accelerating restructuring and upgrading of the industry.

At the same time, the industry needs to resolve, issues related to the supply to raw materials, environmental pressures, the cost of upgrading, etc.

It is now nearly two years since the China’s textile industry began a shift from being quantitative focused to giving stress on quality and efficiency. In doing so, the industry has achieved positive results. It is also actively promoting restructuring, and technological advances are constantly improving. In short, the quality of the entire Industry has continued to improve.

However, the Chinese textile industry is still facing some difficulties, especially rising costs of labour and production, trend of falling final product prices, structural imbalance between supply and demand situation, and many others, which needs attention.

In the given scenario, the textile industry will have to mainly focus on four aspects, according to the China Textile Industry Association. The first aspect is to actively promote the healthy development of the cotton industry chain.

Although China accounts for a big share in world fibre production there is less differentiation in fibres, and are passing through a structural surplus and excess phase. This requires vigorous promotion of the transformation and upgrading of chemical fiber industry.

The third aspect is energy conservation and acceleration of making products out of recycled textile waste fibre. The final aspect is the improvement of China’s textile materials service support system.
