At a recent board meeting of Pakistan Textile City Ltd, the board approved amendment of memorandum and articles of the company, to include power generation by coal in the areas reserved for utilities

This was done, taking in view the high demand for land for coal power generation, since the plot of the Textile City is adjacent to the coastal belt.

The Board of Directors meeting was chaired by Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Chairman of Pakistan Textile City and was also attended by Rukhsana Shah, Secretary in Ministry of Textiles, Textile City CEO Muhammad Hanif Kasbati among others.

The board reviewed the progress of infrastructure and availability of utilities for the Textile City and approved launching the project by end-September 2014.

The Textile City management was advised to conduct road shows and approach potential investors for sale of plots in the Textile City.

The Textile City when fully operational is expected to provide around 80,000 jobs and also generate considerable revenues from exports and taxes for the national exchequer.

Pakistan Textile City will offer the textile processing industry the desired state-of-the-art environment to achieve cost effective high productivity.

The facility will provide uninterrupted power, clean and continuous water supply, natural gas, effluent treatment and efficient transportation systems.

Services will be streamlined as a one window operation and managed in a highly efficient and professional manner.

Moreover, the Textile City’s location at Port Qasim, a modern port, will facilitate import/export processing and transportation.
