Textile park to boost yearly export turnover

The Union Government of India had approved the proposal for setting up nearly 25 textile parks across India. These parks are anticipated to boost the Indian textile industry strengthening its position in the international market.

Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, jointly with Madurai Textile Exporters Association, was seriously considering setting up an Integrated Textile Park near Madurai in about 150 acres of land for promoting manufacture and export of textiles and apparels with all the required infrastructures for textiles related industries such as weaving, garments manufacturing, dyeing and bleaching, under the integrated Textile Park Scheme of the Union Ministry of Textiles.

The Madurai Integrated Textile Park is expected to start functioning by the end of 2008. According to industrial sources, this textile park has consumed a huge investment of around Rs300 crores, which is expected to go upto Rs500 crores, for both its construction as well as infrastructural facility.

It is hoped that with the commencement of this park promoted by Madurai Spinners Association, textile sector of Tamil Nadu would be able to enhance its over all production contributing substantially to the country's average annual income.
