Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) made an announcement regarding EU regulation of environment protection and production of eco-friendly textile and apparel products.

The main aim behind making this announcement was to encourage domestic textile and apparel making enterprises to develop better environment-friendly products for tapping export markets of EU and other countries across the world.

The ministry has plans to lay special focus on casual wears which shall be monitored by the EU.

Some of the key regulations introduced by the MOIT include ecodesign, ecolable (such as EU Ecolable, OKO-Tex, SKAL EKO and SG), Eerlijk Handels handvest voor kleding-EEH, ISO and EMAS.

The Government believes that with the setting up of a standard that goes in accordance with the EU regulation, domestic manufacturers will get more and more accustomed to the customer preference. This in turn will fetch them huge orders which are essential for the growth of the country's economy.
