The Ministry of Labour and Employment has constituted Industrial Tripartite Committees (ITCs), one each for Cotton Textiles, Jute, Road transport, Electricity Generation and Distribution, Engineering, Sugar and Plantation industry.
These are non-statutory Standing Committees constituted with the objective of providing a forum whereby the social partners through dialogue can appreciate the problems of industries and workers affected by economic reforms.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shri Oscar Fernandes (Independent Charge) in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on December 22, 2008.
