A textile business delegation from Turkey is on a official visit to Tajikistan, sniffing for opportunities in the country's textile sector. The delegation had also met the chief of the Tajikistan Chamber of Commerce and Trade.

The head of the chamber suggested that Turkish textile businessmen should explore joint ventures with local textile enterprises. Tajikistan, according to the chief, has a good crop of high quality cotton grown in the country.

But, he said, due to technology constraints, the textile industry in Tajikistan had not been able to take off in the real sense. If the Turkish textile sector was to cooperate, it would create unlimited opportunities for the Turkish as well domestic industry.

The delegation was also taken around a few textile units, to have a firsthand view and the Turkish delegation in turn invited the Tajikistan textile industry to participate and visit Istanbul during the textile trade fair to be held in June, this year.
