Production within China's textile industry picked up during January to April 2009 and the industry completed an output value of 1.0184 trillion Yuan, representing an increase of 4.5 percent year-on-year.
Of this, output in April grew 6.47 percent year-on-year as well as when compared with the previous month. Production of major products increased significantly in the period January-April.
Yarn production totaled 6.70 million tons, an accumulated growth of 8.1 percent; fiber output reached 7.98 million tons, an increase of 2.8 percent and cumulative production of clothing realized 6.6 billion pieces, an increase of 3 percent.
Non-woven production grew sharply due to the outbreak of H1N1 and totaled 360,000 tons in January-April, an increase of 22.7 percent, of which April output achieved a growth of 30.7 percent.
