The Government of Punjab, India, has decided to exempt spinning mills from registering themselves under the Punjab Agriculture Produce Markets Act, 1962.

This was decided in a meeting, the delegation of Northern India Textile Mills' Association (NITMA) led by its President Mr Oswal held with the Chief Minister of the state who assured them that necessary amendments would be made in the relevant Act.

The Chief Minister has given directions to the excise & taxation department to examine the demand to treat ginned cotton at par with un-ginned one for the purpose of entry tax. In previous years, entry tax was not being levied on un-ginned cotton.

He also gave an assurance to the delegation that, the power reforms undertaken by the PSEB would help the industrialists in getting uninterrupted quality power supply at affordable rates in the future.
