Textile industry demands 300 mmcfd gas

The textile sector representatives demanded 300 mmcfd gas to the Textile Minister Mr. Rana Farooq, in a meeting, to attain the export target of textiles.

A committee, was formed under the overtures of Federal Government to overcome gas load-shedding in textile sector during upcoming winter season, which is headed by the Petroleum Minister.

The committee determines sectors for preferences to supply gas in load-shedding timings.

The Minister ensured government's co-operation to the textile industry, which has major contribution in country's economy.

The representatives from various textile and the allied associations such as PCMA, TMA, PTEA, PRGMEA, APTP, PHMA, APTMA, and Cotton Power-looms Association took part in the meeting with Textile Minister.

The issues related to textile sector such as yarn prices, PSF had been discussed during the meeting, wherein the representatives demanded ban on the export of yarn.
