Thousands of powerloom weavers and processors from Burhanpur and Bhiwandi are in a fix over the surge in cotton yarn prices.
However, the government seems to be indifferent towards the sufferings of these weavers, as there has been no improvement in the frequent power cuts or in the inadequate infrastructure. Also, the farmers and the traders have been induced to accumulate stocks, owing to the prevailing circumstances.
But then, the cotton traders state that the rise in the cotton yarn prices is because of the late arrival of cotton crop in the market and a reduction in the purchase by spinners, this season.
