Fernando Capellan, President of Group M recently convened a meeting with a U.S. Congressional delegation, whereby they discussed plans for developing the textile industry of not just Dominican Republic but also of Haiti over the next few years.

The meeting presided over by the US Ambassador Raul Yzaguirre, discussed the growth prospects of the American Chamber of Commerce in the country.

The US legislators carried out discussions with Capellan regarding various projects for developing textile firms in Haiti. Group M has recently established an industrial Free Zone Park in Haiti, in keeping with the provisions of the Dr-Cafta Free Trade Agreement, which facilitates and authorizes joint-production in both the countries.

The US Congressional members articulated their interest in gaining knowledge regarding the socio-economic plans that Group M has been supporting in the two countries, and also that what measures could they initiate to support the initiative.
