Yarn & fabric output expands in Jan-March

China's big and major textile enterprises which total around 3,900 firms, achieved a total yarn output of 6.18 million tons from January to March 2011, up, 2.54 percent year on year.

This growth rate slowed down by about 7 percentage points from the same period last year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

3570 big and major weaving enterprises achieved fabric production amounting to 13.27 billion meters, up 19.42 percent year on year. The growth rate increased about 3 percentage points from the same period last year.

Monthly yarn output came to 2.31 million tons in March, an increase of 22.5 percent from the previous month; while fabric production scored 502,400 tons, up 31.9 percent from the previous month.
