Turkiye has set its new minimum monthly age at TL 22,104 ($630.36) for 2025—up by 30 per cent from the previous year’s figure, labour and social security minister Vedat Isikhan recently announced.

The announcement followed the recently-held fourth meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission that was boycotted by the Confederation of Turkish Labour Unions (Turk-Is) in protest. Turk-Is had demanded a minimum wage of TL 29.583, a 70-per cent hike.

The minimum wage is around TL 20,000 (around $577) gross per month now, and TL 17,002 net after deductions, Turkish media outlets reported.

The commission’s three other meetings on December 10, 16 and 19 were attended by representatives from Turk-Is and the Turkish Confederation of Employer Associations (TISK).
