Turkiye's producer price index rises 3.40% MoM in September 2023

Turkiye’s domestic producer price index (D-PPI) (2003=100) in September 2023 increased by 3.40 per cent month-on-month (MoM), and when compared to the same month in the previous year, the rise was at an impressive 47.44 per cent, according to Turkish Statistical Instituted (Turkstat). On a yearly comparison to December, the jump is 36.06 per cent. Furthermore, when assessed on the twelve months moving averages basis in September 2023, the increase is a substantial 65.55 per cent.

Digging deeper into specific industries, the D-PPI in manufacturing has shown an annual increase of 55.05 per cent in September 2023. When assessed on the monthly scale, the surge is at 3.07 per cent. The figures for the main industrial groups in September 2023 were also compelling, with annual rises of 45.79 per cent for intermediate goods, 61.94 per cent for durable consumer goods, 67.98 per cent for non-durable consumer goods, and 13.41 per cent for energy. These figures, when analysed on a monthly basis, were 1.92 per cent, 3.73 per cent, 4.80 per cent, and 6.12 per cent, respectively.

The fashion and apparel sector also witnessed significant changes. The D-PPI for wearing apparel in September 2023 rose by 52.35 per cent annually and 4.95 per cent monthly. In the textiles domain, the annual and monthly increases stood at 41.84 per cent and 1.18 per cent respectively. The leather and related products industry saw an annual hike of 58.36 per cent, and on a monthly scale, it increased by 3.15 per cent, as per Turkstat.
