Turkiye unemployment edges up to 8.6% in November

The number of unemployed aged 15 and above in Turkiye increased by 54,000 month on month (MoM) to 3.98 million in November this year and the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was an estimated 8.6 per cent—a 0.1-percentage point (pp) rise MoM, according to Household Labour Force Survey by the Turkish Statistical Institute (Turkstat).

The unemployment rate was an estimated 7 per cent for men and 11.8 per cent for women.

The number of employed persons in the country increased by 75,000 MoM to 32.737 million in November and the seasonally-adjusted employment rate was 49.2 per cent—a rise of 0.1 pp MoM. This rate was 66.8 per cent for men and 31.9 per cent for women.

The number of persons in the labour force was 35.834 million in the month—an increased of 128,000 MoM. The seasonally-adjusted labour force participation rate (LFPR) was 53.8 per cent—a rise of 0.1 pp MoM. This rate was 71.8 per cent for men and 36.2 per cent for women, a Turkstat release said.
