According to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool, TexPro, imports valued at $2.608 million in January-May 2019 dropped by 31.33 per cent to $1.791 million in the same period of 2020. However, the figure surged by 128.92 per cent to $4.101 million in 2021 and gained a further 123.16 per cent to reach $9.152 million in 2022, and then $9.258 million in January-May 2023.
Despite the steep rise in the last two years, these imports constituted just 0.55 per cent ($9.258 million) of the Czech Republic's total imports of $1,676.698 million from January to May 2023. During 2022, the Czech Republic's apparel imports totalled $4.192 billion, of which shipments from Vietnam were valued at $28.685 million, accounting for 0.68 per cent of the total.
As per TexPro, the imports of home textiles from Vietnam were recorded at 0.740 million in January-May 2023, which was just 0.29 per cent of the Czech Republic's total imports of $256.407 million during the same period.
