Aug Bangladesh exports see 3.8% YoY growth, RMG sector grows 4.92% YoY

Bangladesh earned $4.78 billion from exports in August this fiscal—a growth of 3.8 per cent year on year (YoY) from $4.60 billion in the same month of last fiscal.

However, the figure is 1.81 per cent below the target of $4.87 billion set for the month, according to data by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). 

Major sectors, except readymade garments (RMG), incurred losses during the month.

During August, the RMG sector earned $3.93 billion—a growth of 4.92 per cent YoY from $3.74 billion in the same month in the last fiscal.

The export earnings in the first two months (July-August) of this fiscal were worth $9.37 billion—a 9.12 per cent YoY growth. Bangladesh earned $8.59 billion during the same period in the last fiscal, according to Bangladesh media reports.

In the first two months of this fiscal, the apparel sector saw a moderate YoY export growth of 12.46 per cent to $7.88 billion.
