Knitted garment exports slightly outpaced woven garment exports in terms of growth. During the fiscal, knitwear exports (Chapter 61) increased by 9.73 per cent to $21.159 billion, compared to $19.282 billion in the corresponding period of fiscal 2023–24. Woven apparel exports (Chapter 62) rose by 7.82 per cent to $18.187 billion, up from $16.869 billion during fiscal 2023–24, according to EPB data.
Home textile exports (Chapter 63, excluding 630510) also grew, rising by 2.42 per cent to $871.57 million, compared to $851.01 million in the same period of the previous fiscal. Collectively, exports of woven and knitted apparel, clothing accessories, and home textiles accounted for 83.29 per cent of Bangladesh’s total exports, which amounted to $48.283 billion during the period.
Exports of cotton and cotton products, including yarn, waste, and fabrics (Chapter 52), eased by 0.41 per cent to $552.23 million during the period under review, compared to $554.50 million in the same period of the previous fiscal.
In June 2025, ready-made garment exports totalled $3.919 billion, marking a 6.31 per cent decrease from $4.183 billion in the corresponding month of the previous year. Knitwear exports eased by 4.04 per cent to $1.539 billion, and woven garment exports declined by 8.96 per cent to $1.247 billion during the month. Outbound shipments of home textiles (Chapter 63, excluding 630510) decreased by 26.64 per cent to $46.99 million. Exports of cotton and cotton products fell by 34.80 per cent to $25.16 million, down from $38.59 million.
The new regime in Bangladesh had earlier revised export data downwards, according to which RMG exports declined by 5.22 per cent to $36.151 billion in fiscal 2023–24 (July 2023 to June 2024).
According to the EPB, RMG exports stood at $38.142 billion in fiscal 2022–23, down from the previously reported figure of $46.991 billion. Exports were recorded at $42.613 billion in fiscal 2021–22 and $31.456 billion in fiscal 2020–21.
