The United Kingdom's apparel imports from Cambodia were valued at $349.17 million during the first five months of the current year, 2023. Cambodia was the eighth-largest supplier, accounting for 4.18 per cent of the UK's total apparel imports. The Southeast Asian nation's role as an apparel supplier to the UK has remained volatile, according to trade data.

Heather Wheeler, the British Prime Minister's trade envoy, recently undertook a trade visit to Cambodia to explore further trade opportunities and green investments. The UK's total apparel imports amounted to $8.356 billion from January to May 2023. During the same period last year, imports stood at $9.812 billion. Cambodia's share was $349.17 million this year, compared to $397.478 million last year, which made up 4.05 per cent of the total. Cambodia retained its position as the eighth-largest apparel supplier to the UK, according to Fibre2Fashion's TexPro, a market insight tool.

On an annual basis, apparel imports from Cambodia reached $1.127 billion in 2022, representing 4.62 per cent of the UK's total inbound shipments worth $24.391 billion. Cambodia became the UK's seventh-largest apparel supplier.

Historically, UK imports from Cambodia have been inconsistent. The figure dropped to $272.158 million in January-May 2020, down from $364.364 million during the same period in 2019. Despite the decline, Cambodia's ranking improved to eighth in January-May 2020 from ninth in 2019. However, in January-May 2021, imports plummeted further to $243.763 million, and Cambodia's rank dropped to eleventh. By 2022, the figure rebounded to $397.478 million, and Cambodia returned to being the UK's eighth-largest apparel supplier, as per TexPro.
