However, Canadian apparel imports from Cambodia saw a 15.35 per cent decline during January-August 2023, down from $667.690 million in the corresponding period of the previous year, as per trade data from Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro. This decrease may be attributed to the current challenging economic conditions in Canada and globally.
Looking back, the country’s imports stood at $553.430 million during January-August 2021, $445.855 million during January-August 2020, and $598.466 million during January-August 2019.
In 2022, imports from Cambodia were recorded at $1,282.578 million, representing 10.33 per cent of Canada’s total apparel imports of $12.416 billion. Cambodia maintained its fourth position as Canada's largest sourcing destination, trailing China, Vietnam, and Bangladesh, according to TexPro.
Canada's earlier apparel import figures were $1,047.801 million in 2021, $873.093 million in 2020, and $1,009.641 million in 2019.
