According to recent market reports, Cambodia's overall merchandise exports to Australia declined by 6 per cent, while imports dropped by 13.8 per cent between January and August 2023.
The 17.11 per cent increase in apparel exports to Australia during January-June 2023 rose from $65.187 million during the same period last year, as per Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.
In 2022, Cambodia exported apparel worth $140.926 million to Australia, constituting 1.09 per cent of its total apparel exports of $12.910 billion. Australia was ranked 14th among Cambodia's largest apparel markets last year. Historical data show exports at $112.846 million in 2021, $96.221 million in 2020, and $116.376 million in 2019.
TexPro data also showed that trousers and shorts were the most exported apparel items from Cambodia to Australia during the first half of this year, making up 26.38 per cent of the total apparel exports. Other top products included jerseys at 22.34 per cent, T-shirts at 9.91 per cent, innerwear at 8.75 per cent, and shirts at 7.30 per cent.
