Cambodia exported apparel worth $577.963 million to Germany during January-August 2022, a figure 36.53 per cent higher than the $423.337 million in the same period of 2021. The country's total apparel exports for the last year amounted to $902.396 million, accounting for 6.99 per cent of Cambodia's total apparel exports of $12.910 billion. Germany was the fourth-largest market for Cambodia in the sector, according to market insights from Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.
Historical data reveals a fluctuating trend. Cambodia exported apparel worth $843.979 million in 2019, which declined to $646.880 million in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. However, exports recovered to $698.462 million in 2021 and saw a significant increase of 29.2 per cent to $902.396 million in 2022.
Trousers and shorts dominated Cambodia's apparel exports to Germany with a 35.03 per cent share from January to July 2023. Among the top five exported garments, jerseys accounted for 20.28 per cent, T-shirts for 8.44 per cent, coats for 6.50 per cent, and dresses for 5.58 per cent of the total apparel exports from Cambodia to Germany, as per TexPro.
