Cambodia exported $37.625 million worth of trousers and shorts in the first eight months of this year, accounting for 26.92 per cent of the country's total apparel exports to South Korea, according to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.
The value of T-shirt exports was $29.154 million (20.86 per cent), while jerseys accounted for $21.504 million (15.39 per cent). Shirt exports were valued at $11.943 million (8.55 per cent), and innerwear exports stood at $7.673 million (5.49 per cent) during the same period.
However, the overall exports to South Korea were 8.36 per cent lower than the $152.525 million recorded during the same period last year. Cambodia exported $201.116 million worth of apparel to South Korea in 2023.
Last year, the export of trousers and shorts amounted to $61.601 million, representing 30.63 per cent of the total. Jerseys were the second most exported item, with $41.101 million (20.44 per cent). Cambodia exported $31.778 million worth of T-shirts (15.80 per cent), $13.484 million in innerwear (6.71 per cent), and $12.940 million in shirts (6.43 per cent), according to TexPro.
In 2022, Cambodia's apparel exports totalled $180.689 million. Despite a global slowdown in garment and textile trade following COVID-related disruptions, Cambodia's exports to South Korea remained resilient, increasing further in 2023.
