Trade data from Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro indicated volatility in the average price of knitted coats imported by Canada from Cambodia. The average per unit price increased to $14.33 in the first five months of this year from the average prices of last year when the price was noted at $12.14 per unit. The average price had registered a constant rise since 2021 when it was noted at $10.24 per unit. Earlier, it increased to $11.36 in 2020 from $10.74 per unit, but it eased in the following year. The average price is influenced by fluctuations in raw material prices and overall demand dynamics.
The total number of units imported by Canada dropped to 7.69 lakh in the first five months of this year. The country had imported 28.81 lakh knitted coats from Cambodia during the full year 2022, showing a lower demand for the garment in Canada. It imported 20.15 lakh coats in 2021, 23.54 lakh coats in 2020, and 35.45 lakh coats in 2019.
The total value of imported coats was $34.969 million in 2022, $20.626 million in 2021, $26.743 million in 2020 and $38.092 million in 2019, as per TexPro.
