According to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro, the outbound shipment to Canada was slightly lower than the exports of $1,344.708 million during January-August 2022. The trade had witnessed a rise of 27.06 per cent during the corresponding period of last year over January-August 2021 when the trade was noted at $1,058.344 million. Earlier, US’ apparel exports were valued at $844.172 million in January-August 2020 and $1262.266 million in January-August 2019.
Annually, apparel shipment from the US to Canada was recorded at $2,108.501 million during 2022, which was 22.97 per cent drop from $1,714.693 million in 2021. US had exported apparel worth $1,522.247 million in 2020 and $1,891.961 million in 2019.
An analysis of product basket shows that trousers & shorts was most dominant garment category accounting for 22.82 per cent out of total apparel export from US to Canada during January-August 2023. It was valued at $290.237 million during the period under review. Among the top five products, the share of jerseys was 13.37 per cent, T-shirts 11.62 per cent, shirts 9.74 per cent and dresses 6.61 per cent in the US’ total apparel shipment to Canada, as per TexPro.
